Our love of trees started the way it does for many—in childhood.
There’s something magical about exploring the woods, climbing trees, and simply being surrounded by nature. Growing up in suburban Maryland, finding a forest to explore wasn’t always easy, but that didn’t stop the adventure.
Our Story
Whether it was with friends, cousins, or alone, time spent in the trees sparked a lifelong passion.
As the years passed, that childhood curiosity turned into something deeper. Through high school and the journey to becoming an Eagle Scout, tree identification became a real interest. We spent hours studying field guides, trying to make sense of every leaf, bark pattern, and branch structure. By the time high school ended in 2002, one thing was clear—whatever the future held, it had to be outdoors.
That’s when an opportunity arose: a local tree care company was hiring. What started as a simple job became a defining experience. Over four years with Bartlett Tree Experts, one of the industry’s leading companies, we learned the science and art of tree care, gaining hands-on experience that built the foundation for everything we do today.
In 2006, we moved to Northeast PA with our growing family and put down roots—literally.
Over the years, we worked alongside some of the best tree care professionals in the area, learning, growing, and refining our craft. By 2011, Auburn Tree & Shrub was born. From the beginning, we’ve been dedicated to helping homeowners care for their properties in a way that respects both their vision and the trees themselves. We understand that for many, trees are more than just part of the landscape—they are part of a story, sometimes one that has been nurtured for generations. It’s an honor to help continue that story.

The ISA Difference
The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) has been a leader in tree care education since 1924. Earning an ISA Certified Arborist credential in 2005 was a major milestone in our journey, and we have continued that education ever since.
